EPCOT: The Complete Guide (2026)
From our own wait data: we record every posted wait at EPCOT every 30 minutes. See the quietest hour for every ride and how busy the parks have actually been.
Park hours today: EPCOT opens at 9am, but World Showcase stays roped off until 11am. Check live EPCOT hours, updated every hour.
EPCOT opened on 1 October 1982 as Walt Disney’s vision of a permanent World’s Fair. It consistently ranks as the favourite among adults. The combination of thrilling rides, exceptional dining, world cultures, and annual festivals gives it a different feel from the other three parks.
EPCOT is the park that has improved the most over the past few years. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, the updated World Showcase dining, and the festival programming make it a very different experience from the EPCOT of even five years ago.
Quick Facts
Opened: 1 October 1982. Size: 305 acres. Typical hours: 9 AM to 9 PM (10 PM on busy days). Early Entry: 30 minutes before opening for Disney Resort guests. Lightning Lane Multi Pass: $18 to $35 per person per day in 2026 (Thrill Data, a third-party tracker, checked 17 October 2026). Nighttime show: Luminous The Symphony of Us, at 9pm on the October 2026 dates we checked. Getting there: Monorail from TTC, Skyliner gondola from Caribbean Beach/Riviera/Hollywood Studios, buses from all Disney hotels.
Getting to EPCOT
EPCOT has two entrances. The main entrance is at the front of the park near Spaceship Earth. The International Gateway entrance sits between the France and UK pavilions in World Showcase, accessible via the Skyliner gondola from Caribbean Beach, Riviera Resort, and Hollywood Studios, or by walking from the Boardwalk, Swan, Dolphin, Beach Club, and Yacht Club resorts.
If you are staying at one of the Skyliner or walking-distance resorts, the International Gateway entrance is a significant advantage. It puts you directly in World Showcase and much closer to Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure in the France pavilion. The Skyliner closes for refurbishment from 24 to 30 January 2027, and Disney runs complimentary buses instead.
The Four Neighbourhoods of EPCOT
World Discovery
The right side of the park, home to the big thrill rides. Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, Test Track, and Mission: SPACE are all here. This is where you should head at rope drop.
World Nature
The left side, focused on the natural world. Soarin’ Across America, Living with the Land, The Seas with Nemo and Friends, and the SeaBase aquarium. Also home to Moana: Journey of Water, an interactive water play trail that younger children love.
World Celebration
The central area anchored by the Spaceship Earth geodesic sphere. Connections Cafe offers all-day quick-service dining, and the Imagination! pavilion houses Journey Into Imagination with Figment. This is also where the Festival Centre operates during EPCOT’s annual festivals.
World Showcase
Eleven country pavilions surrounding a 1.3-mile lagoon. Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, America, Japan, Morocco, France, United Kingdom, and Canada. World Showcase opens at 11 AM daily. Plan to be here in the afternoon and evening when the atmosphere is at its best, particularly as the sun goes down and the pavilions light up.
Best Rides at EPCOT in 2026
Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind (107cm / 42in minimum). A reverse-launch indoor coaster with rotating vehicles and a randomly selected soundtrack. One of the best rides Disney has built in the last decade. Standby waits regularly exceed 60 to 90 minutes. Buy a Lightning Lane Single Pass as soon as your booking window opens (7 days before check-in if you’re staying at a Disney hotel, otherwise 3 days before your visit, from 7am Eastern), or arrive at rope drop.
Test Track (102cm / 40in minimum). A redesigned vehicle-testing experience where you design a virtual concept car and then test it through various conditions, ending with a high-speed outdoor finale. Fun for all ages and a good use of Multi Pass.
Soarin’ Across America (102cm / 40in minimum). A hang-glider simulation with a wraparound screen, wind effects, and scents. Its new film celebrates America’s 250th anniversary and was shot across more than a dozen US locations. One of the most universally enjoyed rides at the park.
Frozen Ever After (no restriction). A gentle boat ride in the Norway pavilion featuring Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff. Reopened in February 2026 with completely new three-dimensional Audio-Animatronic figures replacing the previous projection-mapped versions. The upgrade is noticeable and makes it worth revisiting even if you have ridden the older version.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure (no restriction). A trackless dark ride in the France pavilion where you shrink to rat-size and race through a Parisian restaurant. High demand, especially in the first half of the day. Arrive early or use Lightning Lane.
Mission: SPACE. Two versions: Orange Mission (112cm minimum, intense centrifuge simulator) and Green Mission (102cm minimum, gentler version without the centrifuge). The Orange Mission is one of the most intense experiences at Disney World. If you have any history of motion sickness, take the Green.
Living with the Land (no restriction). A 14-minute boat ride through greenhouses where Disney grows real produce, some in partnership with NASA. No height restriction, queues rarely exceed 20 minutes, and it is one of the most underrated attractions at EPCOT. It is worth riding.
2026 Updates
Soarin’ Across America: New film celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, shot across more than a dozen US locations, and showing now.
Frozen Ever After: Reopened 12 February 2026 with completely new three-dimensional Audio-Animatronic figures.
Palais du Cinema (France): Impressions de France came back on 9 May 2026, a day earlier than planned, after a refurbishment (WDWMagic, third-party). Check the day’s schedule in My Disney Experience for Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along showtimes.
World Showcase Country Guide
Mexico: Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride inside the pyramid. La Hacienda de San Angel for lakeside dining and La Cava del Tequila for an excellent tequila bar.
Norway: Frozen Ever After (newly upgraded), Stave Church exhibit, and Akershus Royal Banquet Hall for princess character dining.
China: Reflections of China CircleVision film and Nine Dragons Restaurant.
Germany: No ride, but Biergarten Restaurant serves a buffet with live Oompah music. Strong food and drink options. Good pretzels.
Italy: Via Napoli Ristorante e Pizzeria serves some of the best pizza at Disney World. Venetian-inspired architecture worth photographing.
America: The American Adventure is a 30-minute Audio-Animatronic show covering American history with Ben Franklin and Mark Twain. More engaging than it sounds.
Japan: Mitsukoshi Department Store is one of the best shops in all of Disney World. Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya (which replaced Tokyo Dining) serves izakaya-style small plates and sushi.
Morocco: The most architecturally detailed pavilion. Disney lists Restaurant Marrakesh as temporarily unavailable (checked 17 October 2026).
France: Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, bakeries, and patisseries. Impressions de France returned on 9 May 2026.
United Kingdom: Rose and Crown Pub with a lagoon-facing terrace. One of the best fireworks viewing spots in the park, but arrive 45+ minutes early to get a terrace spot.
Canada: Canada Far and Wide, a 12-minute Circle-Vision 360 film, according to Disney. Le Cellier Steakhouse is one of the most popular table-service restaurants at EPCOT, famous for its Canadian cheddar cheese soup. Book early.
EPCOT Annual Festivals
Festival of the Arts (mid-January to 1 March in 2027, according to Disney): Food studios, live art, and galleries. The quietest of the four festivals and a lovely time to visit.
Flower and Garden Festival (March to May): Topiaries, outdoor kitchens, and garden displays throughout the park. The topiaries are impressive and the outdoor food booths add variety to the dining options.
Food and Wine Festival (late August to November; 27 August to 21 November in 2026): The single most popular annual event at all of Disney World. Global food booths, celebrity chefs, and concerts. The park is busier during this festival, but the food is excellent. One option is the “eating around the world” circuit, where you try a small plate at each pavilion. Budget for it.
Festival of the Holidays (November to December): The Candlelight Processional is the highlight, a live orchestra and celebrity narrator telling the Christmas story with a massed choir. Holiday kitchens offer seasonal food and drink.

Le Cellier Steakhouse (Canada). The Canadian cheddar cheese soup is legendary for a reason. Steaks are excellent. Book early, it fills up fast.

Shiki-Sai: Sushi Izakaya (Japan). Izakaya-style small plates and sushi. A step up from typical theme park dining.

Insider Tips for EPCOT
Rope drop World Discovery. Head straight for Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind and Test Track before 10 AM. The front-of-park rides are where morning time is most valuable.
Visit World Showcase in the afternoon and evening. Pavilions open at 11 AM. The atmosphere improves dramatically as daylight fades and the lagoon area lights up. Rushing through World Showcase at midday misses half its charm.
Book the Guardians Single Pass as soon as your booking window opens (7 days before check-in if you’re staying at a Disney hotel, otherwise 3 days before your visit, from 7am Eastern). It can sell out on busy days. If you miss it, check back around 11 AM and 2 PM for cancellations.
EPCOT suits adults without children. The food, culture, bar options, and festivals make it the most adult-friendly park. If you are visiting Disney World without kids, or planning an adults-only evening, this is where to go.
Best fireworks spot: The Rose and Crown Pub terrace in the UK pavilion. Arrive 45+ minutes early for a terrace seat with a direct lagoon view.
