Most entries last checked 17 October 2026; each entry shows its own check date. Entries marked verified were read off Disney’s own listing on that date. Entries marked announced come from a Disney announcement we have not been able to re-confirm since, so treat any month given there as the earliest plausible date rather than a promise.

  • Sassagoula River Cruise (Old Key West). Boats are out of service from 12 October to 1 November 2026, and Disney runs buses to Disney Springs instead. Verified 17 October 2026.

Open again

These come up constantly in searches because older guides still list them as closed.

  • Pete’s Silly Sideshow (Magic Kingdom). Open again after a refurbishment that began in January 2026. Disney lists the Donald and Goofy and the Minnie and Daisy meets there from 10:00 to 19:00. Verified 17 October 2026.

  • Soarin’ Across America (EPCOT). Open, 09:00 to 21:00, with early theme park entry from 08:30. It replaced Soarin’ Around the World on 26 May 2026 with a US film for the country’s 250th anniversary. Disney calls this a limited-time run and has not given an end date, so the original film may come back. Verified 17 October 2026.
  • Blizzard Beach. Open, 10:00 to 17:00 on 17 October 2026, with Slush Gusher closed for refurbishment. Verified 17 October 2026.

  • Conservation Station (Animal Kingdom). Reopened 26 May 2026 with Bluey’s Wild World in the building and Jumping Junction replacing Affection Section. The Wildlife Express train is running again and Disney has dropped the Rafiki’s Planet Watch name. Announced May 2026.
  • Impressions de France (EPCOT). Back on 9 May 2026, a day earlier than scheduled, after a refurbishment that began in February. Announced May 2026.

Gone for good

  • Rivers of America, Liberty Square Riverboat and Tom Sawyer Island (Magic Kingdom). Permanently closed. The area is becoming Piston Peak National Park, with construction active and no opening date announced by Disney (checked 13 October 2026).
  • Muppet*Vision 3D and the Muppets Courtyard (Hollywood Studios). Closed and behind construction walls for Monstropolis.
  • Voyage of the Little Mermaid (Hollywood Studios). Removed during the Animation Courtyard rebuild.

Work happening around you

None of these close an attraction, but they change what a day feels like.

  • Cinderella Castle (Magic Kingdom). Disney finished repainting the castle in 2026, returning it to a more classic colour scheme. Announced.
  • Walt Disney World Railroad (Magic Kingdom). Closed for refurbishment from 28 September 2026. Disney’s notice says it is due back in November 2026, but its schedule shows it running from 30 October 2026 (checked 17 October 2026). When it reopens it runs as a shuttle between Main Street U.S.A. and Fantasyland, because the Frontierland station stays closed during the expansion. Announced.
  • All-Star Movies Resort, guest rooms. Phased refurbishment from late May 2026 to the end of January 2027. Announced.
  • Animal Kingdom Lodge, Jambo House guest rooms. Guest rooms and some public areas are being refurbished through early 2027, according to Disney. Announced.

  • Grand Floridian Resort. Renovation continues in some areas, including the covered entrance, through early 2027. Grand Floridian Cafe is closed for a refresh through October 2026, with brunch moved to Cítricos, and the resort’s Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is temporarily unavailable, according to Disney. Announced.
  • Polynesian Village Resort. Parts of the resort, including the front entrance roadway, are being refurbished through early 2027. Most dining, pools and amenities stay open, according to Disney. Announced.

If you are booked at All-Star Movies or Jambo House and want to be away from the noise, ask at check-in for a building that has already been finished. The front desk can usually manage it with a little notice.

Water parks

Disney alternates Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, so one of the two is normally closed for refurbishment. Blizzard Beach was open on 17 October 2026, running 10:00 to 17:00, with Slush Gusher closed for refurbishment. Disney lists Typhoon Lagoon as closed for refurbishment from 9 September 2026, with no reopening date (checked 17 October 2026).

Opening in 2027 and beyond

  • Tropical Americas at Animal Kingdom, 2027, with an Encanto attraction on the old DinoLand site.

  • Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress at Magic Kingdom, late spring 2027.
  • Villains Land at Magic Kingdom, no year announced.
  • Spaceship Earth at EPCOT, a reworked version announced at D23 in August 2026, with no closure or reopening dates from Disney yet.
  • Monstropolis at Hollywood Studios, with parts opening in 2027, according to Disney.

Planning around a closure

Check this page 60 to 90 days out, then again on the morning of your visit. Unplanned closures can come up on the day itself, so leave room to rework the plan.

Reopening dates slip, often by months. Avoid building a park day around a ride that is due back that same week.

Spread your must-dos across parks. Any plan with a single non-negotiable attraction in it falls apart the morning that attraction goes down.

On compensation. Disney does not discount tickets or issue refunds for closures it announced in advance, however disappointing the closure is. Unexpected breakdowns are treated differently: if a ride fails while you are in the park, Guest Services can sometimes issue a Lightning Lane for something else. What matters is whether the closure was published before you arrived.

D23 2026 update. Disney announced its next wave of Walt Disney World projects in August 2026, including Villains Land, Piston Peak National Park, Tropical Americas and Monstropolis, plus a late spring 2027 return for Carousel of Progress and a fix for the Expedition Everest Yeti. Frequently Asked Questions

How often is the refurbishment tracker updated?

Whenever Disney announces a change or a closure date moves. Each entry carries what we know and when we last checked it, so you can judge how current it is.

Will a closed ride reopen while I am there?

Reopening dates slip regularly, and Disney often gives a season rather than a date. Treat an announced month as the earliest plausible date rather than a promise, and do not build a trip around a reopening.

What happens to my ticket if a headline ride is closed?

Nothing. Closures are not refundable and Disney does not discount tickets for them, which is why it is worth checking before you pick your dates.
