Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is Magic Kingdom’s separately ticketed Christmas evening. The park closes to day guests, the castle gets its snow and lights, and there is a parade, fireworks and free hot chocolate and cookies.
It is the most expensive of Disney World’s hard-ticket parties, and the one that sells out hardest.

The 6pm problem
Magic Kingdom closes to day guests at 6pm on party nights. Twenty-five nights across a six-week stretch means a high chance of an accidental clash if you book park days first and check the calendar later.
If you hold a normal ticket for a party date you lose the evening entirely: no fireworks, no late rides, out by six. This is the single most common way people waste money on a December trip.
Is it worth it?
Worth it if you want the Christmas content. The parade, the castle lighting and the party-only characters are genuinely good, and the park is noticeably emptier.
Harder to justify purely on ride time. At $229 a head for a family of four you are past $900 before tax, and a normal December day with Lightning Lane gets you more attractions for less.
The decider is usually whether Christmas itself is the reason for the trip. If it is, the party is the trip. If it is a bonus, look at Jollywood Nights, which is cheaper and runs later.
Practical notes
- Book early. 25 nights sounds like plenty. December weekends are not.
- Arrive well before 7pm. Party ticket holders are admitted earlier in the evening, so treat the stated start time as when the party content begins, not when you should turn up.
- Do the party-only characters first. Those queues lengthen through the night while the ride queues shorten.
- The hot chocolate and cookies are included. Small thing, but the stations are spread around the park and easy to miss.
