Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is Magic Kingdom’s separately ticketed Christmas evening. The park closes to day guests, the castle gets its snow and lights, and there is a parade, fireworks and free hot chocolate and cookies.

In 2026 it runs on 25 nights from 8 November to 22 December, at $189 to $229 for an adult. It sells out: on 17 October, 8 of the 25 nights were sold out on Disney’s booking page.

The 6pm problem

Magic Kingdom closes to day guests at 6pm on party nights. Twenty-five nights across a six-week stretch means a high chance of an accidental clash if you book park days first and check the calendar later.

Disney’s calendar shows Magic Kingdom open to day guests from 9am to 6pm on every party night from 8 November to 10 December 2026. On 9 December, a night with no party, it runs to 10pm. Disney’s schedule, read through ThemeParks.wiki on 17 October, shows the same 9am to 6pm day on every party night from 11 to 22 December, against 10pm on 12 December, which has no party. Our live Magic Kingdom hours page shows the hours for any date.

If you hold a normal ticket for a party date you lose the evening entirely: no fireworks, no late rides, out by six. It’s an easy way to waste money on a December trip.

What’s on at the 2026 party

These are the names Disney uses on its event page.

  • Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.
  • Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks.
  • Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration, a stage show at Cinderella Castle starring Mickey.
  • Frozen Holiday Surprise, when the castle turns icy with Elsa, Anna, Olaf, Kristoff and the Snowgies.
  • Santa Claus at Santa’s Christmas Carnival in Storybook Circus.
  • Club Tinsel, a dance party at Rockettower Plaza Stage in Tomorrowland.
  • “Snowfall” on Main Street, U.S.A.
  • Holiday versions of rides: Space Mountain with holiday music and lighting, Tomorrowland Speedway’s Race Through the Holidays, Mad Tea Party, the Jingle Cruise and Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor.
  • Party-only character meets, including Jack Skellington dressed as Santa, with Sally, according to the Disney Parks Blog.
  • Free treats: cookies and hot and cold drinks at set spots around the park.

Some things cost extra. Party-only food includes Carne Asada Loaded Fries at Pecos Bill, a Snowflake Ornament dessert at Pinocchio Village Haus and a Hazelnut Carriage Cake at Cinderella’s Royal Table. There are two bookable fireworks dessert parties, and you need a party wristband to buy the event merchandise at the Emporium.

Is it worth it?

Worth it if you want the Christmas content. The parade, the castle shows and the party-only characters are genuinely good, and the park is noticeably emptier.

Harder to justify purely on ride time. On a $229 December night, two adults and two children aged 3 to 9 pay $896 before tax, on top of the park tickets for the rest of the trip.

The decider is usually whether Christmas itself is the reason for the trip. If it is, the party is the trip. If it is a bonus, look at Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios, which costs $169 to $199 and runs 7.30pm to 12.30am.

Practical notes

  • Book now if you have a date in mind. 8 nights were sold out by 17 October, 3 weeks before the first party.
  • Arrive from 4pm. Party guests can enter Magic Kingdom from 4pm without a separate park ticket or park reservation, according to Disney. That’s 3 hours in the park before the party starts at 7pm.
  • Do the party-only characters first. Those queues lengthen through the night while the ride queues shorten.
  • The cookies and drinks are included. Small thing, but the stations are spread around the park and easy to miss.
  • Tickets can’t be refunded or transferred. Disney doesn’t refund them if entertainment is cancelled.
  • Want a second Christmas evening? The Candlelight Processional runs nightly at EPCOT from 27 November to 30 December 2026, included with park admission.
