Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is a separately ticketed evening at Magic Kingdom. The park closes to day guests, a few thousand fewer people stay behind, and you get trick-or-treating, a parade, fireworks and characters who only appear on party nights.

It costs more than a day in the park. Whether that is worth it depends almost entirely on which night you pick.

Dates and prices for 2026

Verified 8 August 2026. Every 2026 party night has now sold out, according to Disney’s event page (checked 13 October 2026).

You get three extra hours, not five

The ticket says 7pm to midnight. In practice you can enter from 4pm, which is the single most useful thing to know about it.

That means a party ticket buys you roughly eight hours in Magic Kingdom, three of them before the party officially starts. Arrive at 7pm and you have paid full price for a shorter night.

Which nights are cheapest

The price range is wide, and the pattern is predictable.

  • Cheapest: August and early September, midweek. The season opens softer because it is hot and wet, and many US schools are back by mid-August.
  • Dearest: October weekends, and Halloween night itself at the top of the range.
  • Best value: a September midweek night. Close to peak atmosphere, well below peak price.

The trade is weather. August in Orlando means afternoon storms and heavy humidity, and a party night can lose an hour to rain.

The bit that catches people out

Magic Kingdom closes to day guests at 6pm on party nights.

If you hold a normal park ticket for a party date, you lose the evening. No regular fireworks, no late rides, out by six. People book a Magic Kingdom day, discover the clash at the gate, and lose half of what they paid for.

Check the party calendar before you decide which park to visit on which day. There are 38 party nights across three months, so the odds of an accidental clash are high.

Is it worth it?

Worth it if you want lower crowds and the party-only content. The park genuinely does feel emptier, queues drop, and the parade and fireworks are good.

Not worth it if you are simply after more ride time. Two hundred dollars a head buys a lot of Lightning Lane on a normal day, and you keep the full evening.

For a family of four at an October weekend price, you are looking at close to $900 before tax. Run that against the rest of your budget in the trip cost calculator before committing.

Practical notes

  • Costumes are allowed, including for adults, which is unusual at Disney World. Rules still apply on masks and anything that could be mistaken for a real costumed cast member.
  • Bring a bag for sweets. Trick-or-treat stations hand out a lot and Disney’s bags fill quickly.
  • Popular dates sell out months ahead. Halloween night sold out in May for 2026.
  • Do the party-only characters first. Queues for those grow through the evening, while the regular rides get shorter.

Frequently Asked Questions

When is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party 2026?

It runs from 7 August to 31 October 2026 at Magic Kingdom, with 38 party nights in total: 9 in August, 13 in September and 16 in October.

How much does Not-So-Scary cost in 2026?

Tickets are $119 to $229 per person plus tax, depending on the date. August and early September midweek nights are cheapest; October weekends and Halloween night are the most expensive. Annual Passholders and eligible DVC members save $10 on nights from 7 August to 2 October.

What time does the Halloween party start?

The party officially runs 7pm to midnight, but party ticket holders can enter Magic Kingdom from 4pm. That makes the ticket worth roughly eight hours in the park rather than five, so arriving at 7pm wastes a good part of what you paid for.

Does Magic Kingdom close early on Halloween party nights?

Yes. Magic Kingdom closes to day guests at 6pm on party nights. If you hold a normal park ticket for a party date you lose the evening, including the regular fireworks. Check the party calendar before choosing your park days.

Can adults wear costumes to Not-So-Scary?

Yes. Costumes are allowed for adults at this event, which is unusual at Disney World. Restrictions still apply on masks and on anything that could be mistaken for an official costumed cast member.

Is Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party worth it?

It is worth it for lower crowds and the party-only parade, fireworks, characters and trick-or-treating. It is poor value if you only want more ride time, since the same money spent on Lightning Lane on a normal day buys more rides and keeps your evening.

The Christmas equivalents are Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom and Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios.
