A Walt Disney World vacation package is a Disney Resort hotel stay and theme park tickets booked together as one reservation, with optional extras such as a dining plan or Memory Maker. Disney does not say a standard package costs less than buying the room and tickets separately. What a package changes is how you pay, what you can add, and which special offers you can use.
Everything below is checked against Disney’s own package terms and resort pages on 13 October 2026, and the sources are listed at the end.
The base of every package is a room at a Disney Resort hotel plus theme park tickets for the same party. Disney’s terms name the extras you can add on top:
A package also brings Magical Extras, a card of small discounts valid during the package stay. For 2027 arrivals it includes mostly 10% off food at Disney Springs restaurants, 4 vouchers for a round of miniature golf and 4 for ESPN Wide World of Sports admission, according to Disney. Gratuities and anything you spend at the hotel are not included.
Packages can be booked online when they include theme park tickets. If you already have tickets, Disney says to book a package by phone on (407) 939-5277.
Most of the perks people associate with a package come with the hotel, not the package. Disney lists them as benefits of any Disney Resort stay, room-only included.
| Benefit | Room-only stay | Package |
|---|---|---|
| 30-minute Early Theme Park Entry every day | Yes | Yes |
| Lightning Lane purchase 7 days before your stay (3 days for other guests) | Yes | Yes |
| Dining reservations 60 days out for the whole stay, up to 10 nights | Yes | Yes |
| Free standard parking at the parks, water parks and Disney Springs | Yes | Yes |
| Free buses, boats, monorail and Skyliner | Yes | Yes |
| Extended Evening Hours (Deluxe and Deluxe Villa hotels only) | Yes | Yes |
| Disney Dining Plan | No | Yes, as an add-on |
| Magical Extras discount card | No | Yes |
| Package-only special offers | No | Yes |
So if you do not want a dining plan, the case for a package rests on the payment terms and on whichever offer is running for your dates. For the hotel side of the decision, see where to stay at Disney World and the Value, Moderate and Deluxe resort guides.
This is where a package and a room-only booking differ most. Disney’s 2027 package terms, updated on 16 April 2026, set out the package side:
| Package (Walt Disney Travel Company) | Room-only | |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | $200 per reservation, due within 3 days of booking (at booking for 2026 arrivals) | Not published on a Disney policy page |
| Final payment | 30 days before arrival, and Disney says the date cannot be extended | Paid at the hotel when you arrive, according to Disney |
| Cancel 30 days or more out | Refund, minus any third-party fees | See note below |
| Cancel 2 to 29 days out | $200 fee per package | See note below |
| Cancel 1 day or less, or no-show | Full price lost | See note below |
| Changes inside 30 days | $50 per package | Not published |
| Price changes | Can change until the package is paid in full | Not published |
Disney does not publish room-only cancellation terms on its policy pages. A planDisney panel answer says a room-only deposit is refunded in full if you cancel at least 8 days before check-in, and that cancelling inside 7 days costs one night. Check the terms on your own confirmation before relying on that.
Package payments are covered by the USTOA Travelers Assistance Program, which protects deposits and payments if the operator fails, according to Disney’s terms. Disney also notes that unused tickets, meals and other package features are not refunded if you leave early.
Not by itself. Disney prices its package offers against the “nondiscounted price of the same package”, and nowhere says a standard package undercuts the room and tickets bought separately. The way to find out is to price both on the same dates: the package, then the room-only rate plus the same tickets with tax. The Disney World cost calculator uses Disney’s own ticket and hotel prices if you want a quick baseline, and the tickets guide explains how ticket prices move by date.
The offers are where the money is, and some only work with a package. These were the offers on Disney’s site on 13 October 2026:
| Offer | Needs a package? | Dates |
|---|---|---|
| Up to $250 a night off select 4-night (or longer) room-and-ticket packages | Yes | Most nights 28 February to 28 July 2027, with up to $150 a night on most Sunday to Thursday nights from 3 January to 25 February |
| Free dining plan for children aged 3 to 9 when everyone 10 and over has one | Yes | Arrivals in 2026 |
| Up to 20% off children’s dining with a dining plan package | Yes | Arrivals in 2027 |
| Up to 20% off rooms | No, room-only | Most Sunday to Thursday nights 4 October to 19 November 2026, and most nights 22 November to 24 December 2026 |
| Up to 25% off rooms | No, room-only | Most nights 28 February to 29 April 2027, with smaller savings on most Sunday to Thursday nights from 3 January |
Most of these cannot be combined with other discounts, so a package offer and a room offer for the same dates are usually an either-or. The exception Disney lists is the 2026 holiday room offer, which can be used with the 2026 kids’ dining plan offer.
Since 9 January 2024, the Disney Dining Plan can only be added to a Walt Disney Travel Company package that includes a Disney Resort hotel, according to Disney. If you want a dining plan, you need a package. If you do not, most of the package advantages fall away.
Each plan gives every guest aged 3 and over a set allowance per night of the stay. Unused meals roll over day to day and expire at midnight on checkout day, and gratuities are not included:
| Plan | Table-service meals | Quick-service meals | Snacks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Quick-Service Dining Plan | 0 | 2 | 1 |
| Table-Service Dining Plan (the standard Disney Dining Plan) | 1 | 1 | 1 |
| Deluxe Table-Service Dining Plan (new for 2027) | 2 | 1 | 1 |
Each meal includes a drink, and every plan comes with one refillable resort mug per stay. Some restaurants take 2 table-service credits, including Cinderella’s Royal Table, Signature restaurants and the dinner shows.
Disney’s plan page does not list prices. Disney Tourist Blog and TouringPlans give the 2027 price per person per night, including tax, as $62.78 for adults and $25.82 for children on the Quick-Service plan, $99.87 and $31.94 on the Table-Service plan, and $163.01 and $46.85 on the Deluxe plan. Whether a plan saves money depends on how you eat, so compare it with real menu prices in our dining guide and character dining guide.
Disney Holidays, Disney’s UK booking site, sells a different product from the US packages, and the terms change with it:
| US package (Walt Disney Travel Company) | UK package (Disney Holidays) | |
|---|---|---|
| Deposit | $200 per reservation | £50 per person without flights, £150 per person with flights |
| Balance due | 30 days before arrival | 8 weeks before departure without flights, 100 days with flights |
| Financial protection | USTOA Travelers Assistance Program | ATOL (number 10401) for flight-inclusive holidays; ABTA bond for packages without flights; accommodation-only is not covered |
| Tickets in the advertised packages | Standard US date-based tickets | A 14-Day Magic Ticket sold only to UK and Ireland guests, with Park Hopper and Memory Maker |
| Travel insurance | Offered as an add-on | Your own responsibility |
Disney Holidays was also running Free Dining and Drinks for 2027 Hotel and Ticket packages booked by 4 November 2026, for selected arrivals from 3 January to 19 December 2027. Its terms say an 18% gratuity applies to certain meals.
A package suits you if you want the dining plan, if a package-only offer beats the room offers for your dates, or if you would rather pay a $200 deposit now and the balance 30 days out. UK families booking flights as well get ATOL protection on the whole holiday by booking it through Disney Holidays.
Booking separately suits you if you already hold tickets or an annual pass, if a room-only discount is the bigger saving for your dates, or if you want room-only flexibility on cancellation. Either way, the Disney hotel perks are the same, so price both and pick the cheaper one for the same room and tickets.
A Disney World package combines a Disney Resort hotel stay with theme park tickets in one reservation. You can add a Disney Dining Plan, ticket upgrades such as Park Hopper, Memory Maker and travel protection, and every package gets a Magical Extras discount card. Gratuities and spending at the hotel are not included.
Not by default. Disney prices its package offers against the undiscounted package price and does not claim a standard package undercuts room plus tickets. Price both on the same dates. Package-only offers, such as up to $250 a night off longer spring 2027 stays, can tip it, but most offers cannot be combined.
No. Since 9 January 2024 Disney only sells dining plans as an add-on to a Walt Disney Travel Company package that includes a Disney Resort hotel. If you have a room-only booking, you can upgrade it to a package with a dining plan, subject to availability and current prices, according to Disney.
Disney’s 2027 package terms set a $200 deposit per reservation, due within 3 days of booking, with the full balance due 30 days before arrival. Disney says the balance date cannot be extended. Packages booked 30 days or less before arrival are paid in full when you book. UK Disney Holidays deposits are set per person instead.
Under Disney’s 2027 terms, cancelling 30 days or more before arrival gets a refund minus any third-party fees. Cancelling 2 to 29 days out costs $200 per package, and cancelling 1 day or less before arrival, or not turning up, loses the full price. Changes inside 30 days cost $50 per package.
Yes. Early Theme Park Entry, the 7-day Lightning Lane booking window, free standard parking, free Disney transport and 60-day dining reservations for the whole stay all come with any Disney Resort hotel stay, according to Disney. A room-only booking gets them too. Only the dining plan, Magical Extras and package-only offers need a package.
Yes. Disney Holidays packages for UK guests take a deposit of £50 per person without flights or £150 with flights, with the balance due 8 weeks or 100 days before departure. Flight-inclusive packages are ATOL protected under licence 10401, and the advertised packages include a 14-Day Magic Ticket sold only to UK and Ireland guests.
