How to Book Disney World Dining Reservations in 2026

The 60-Day Reservation Window Explained

Disney releases advance dining reservations 60 days in advance at 6 AM Eastern Time. If you’re staying at a Disney resort, you book your entire trip’s dining on day 1 of your window. Day guests book individual park days as those dates hit the 60-day mark. This system has been consistent since late 2022, and Disney has shown no signs of changing it in 2026.

The window opens at 6 AM ET sharp. 6:01 AM is too late for the most popular restaurants. I’ve monitored multiple reservation days over seven Disney trips, and restaurants like Be Our Guest dinner book within 30 to 45 minutes of the window opening. Oga’s Cantina and Le Cellier follow within an hour. By 7 AM, most of the restaurants that were available at 6:01 AM are gone.

This competitive timing has shaped how families plan Disney meals. You either book strategically the moment the window opens, or you build a plan around what’s available after the rush. Both approaches work, but they require different strategies.

Resort Guests: Book Your Entire Trip on Day 1

If you’re staying at a Disney resort, your reservation window opens 60 days before your check-in date. On that date at 6 AM ET, you can book dining for your entire stay. If you’re checking in on July 15, your dining window opens May 16 at 6 AM. You can book breakfast, lunch, and dinner for July 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, etc., all on May 16 at 6 AM.

This is the resort guest advantage. Day guests have to book each individual date separately 60 days before that date. So a day guest visiting July 15 through 19 books July 15 dining on May 16, July 16 dining on May 17, July 17 dining on May 18, and so on. They’re booking every single day for five straight days, competing with thousands of people daily.

If you’re flexible on your resort dates, booking a weekday arrival gives you more restaurant availability. Weekend arrivals mean competing for weekend dining windows, which are the most competitive.

How to Actually Book: The Tools

You have three methods: the My Disney Experience mobile app, the Disney World website, or phone at (407) 939-3463.

The My Disney Experience app is fastest. Open it at 5:55 AM ET on your reservation day, verify your party size is correct, and wait. At 6:00 AM exactly, refresh. Your home screen will show “make dining reservations” as a button. Tap it immediately. The first 30 seconds will have app lag, but it’s still faster than the website which can have server delays up to several minutes.

Have your priority list of five restaurants ready. Don’t search for individual restaurants. Go straight to the four or five you want to book and try them in order. Be Our Guest. Cinderella’s Royal Table. Crystal Palace. Oga’s Cantina. Le Cellier. Check them in that priority order and grab whichever is available first.

The website at disneyworld.disney.go.com takes slightly longer during the rush, but it’s more stable if the app is crashing. Have the browser tab already open and refreshed at 5:55 AM.

Phone booking at (407) 939-3463 works but it’s slower. You’ll wait on hold. Phone lines open at 6 AM, and you’ll speak to a cast member who can check availability and book for you. This is your backup if the app and website are both unresponsive, but plan on it taking 20 to 30 minutes.

Most people succeed using the app at 6 AM or the website at 6:02 AM. Fewer than 5 percent need to call.

What Happens When Your First Choice is Sold Out

Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom sells out in 30 minutes, usually with only lunch remaining at 6:15 AM. Cinderella’s Royal Table sells out in 20 minutes if breakfast is available. Oga’s Cantina sells out within 45 to 60 minutes. If you miss these restaurants, they’re gone for that day unless you check the cancellation window at midnight.

Your backup strategy is flexibility on time. If Be Our Guest at 6:15 PM is sold out, check 8:45 AM (lunch), 10:30 AM (late breakfast), 10:45 PM (very late dinner), or alternate restaurants. Don’t spend 10 minutes searching for Be Our Guest 6:15 PM when Cinderella’s breakfast at 8:45 AM is available. Book the backup, lock it in, and move on.

Unusual reservation times book much more readily. A 10:45 PM dinner slot at Be Our Guest often has availability when every other time is gone. If you don’t mind eating exceptionally late, very late times are your secret weapon for getting popular restaurants on day 60.

Be Our Guest is the clearest example. A preferred dinner slot is the exception rather than the rule, and most people end up with an alternate time or lunch instead. All of those are a good experience, and locking one in beats spending the morning hunting for the perfect time.

The Midnight Cancellation Window

At midnight local Florida time on the day before your reservation, Disney opens a 24-hour cancellation window. Other guests’ cancellations become available in real-time. From midnight to 1 AM, you’ll see the most cancellations because people are canceling to avoid the $10 per person no-show fee.

Logging into the My Disney Experience app at 12:05 AM sometimes reveals restaurants that disappeared at 6 AM. I’ve scored Be Our Guest dinner at 11:45 PM this way twice. Booked Oga’s Cantina at 12:30 AM once as well.

If your must-do restaurant isn’t booked on day 60, set a phone alarm for 11:55 PM the night before and check the app at midnight. Spend 10 minutes looking for your restaurant. If nothing appears by 12:10 AM, you’ve missed it and should move on to your backup plan.

The cancellation check is a legitimate second-chance opportunity, but don’t count on it. Go in expecting your day 60 booking to be final.

Strategies That Actually Work

Strategy 1: Book breakfast instead of dinner. Breakfast restaurants have more availability. Cinderella’s Royal Table breakfast has more slots than dinner. Character meal breakfasts book easier than dinners. You save $20 to $30 per person and the food quality is comparable. Breakfast character meals with table service at lunch is the better-value pattern. Dinner’s our backup category.

Strategy 2: Be flexible on park and time. If Be Our Guest is sold out but Cinderella’s Royal Table breakfast is available, book it. You’re still getting a castle experience, you’re still meeting characters, and breakfast is arguably better value. Don’t get locked into one restaurant.

Strategy 3: Skip the popular-restaurant race entirely and book restaurants you want to eat at that aren’t first-to-book. Tusker House at Animal Kingdom is excellent and it’s still available at 6:45 AM on day 60. Monsieur Paul at EPCOT is high-end French and it books slower than Le Cellier. Columbia Harbour House is the best quick service at Magic Kingdom and you can book it anytime.

Strategy 4: Plan one table service and fill the rest with quick service. Breakfast 8:30 AM (table service), lunch 1 PM (mobile order quick service), dinner 5:30 PM (quick service or table service depending on day). This approach works financially and logistically. You get one excellent dining experience daily and fill the rest with good but quicker meals.

Walk-Up Waitlists and Same-Day Reservations

Most Disney restaurants keep 10 to 20 percent of their table inventory open for same-day walk-ins. You can view walk-up waitlists in the My Disney Experience app under “dining.” Arriving at a restaurant at 11 AM might show a 45-minute waitlist; checking again at 11:30 AM shows 15 minutes.

EPCOT’s World Showcase is your best bet for walk-up success. Check the app 30 minutes after the park opens. Les Halles Boulangerie has a walk-up line most days. Japan pavilion restaurants often have walk-up availability. Le Cellier and Monsieur Paul usually have some walk-up capacity.

At other parks, walk-ups are less reliable because there are fewer restaurants total. Magic Kingdom has Be Our Guest, Cinderella’s, and Crystal Palace managing most of the demand. Hollywood Studios has Sci-Fi Dine-In and 50’s Prime Time fighting for reservations. Animal Kingdom has Tiffins and Tusker House competing. Walk-ups exist but aren’t guaranteed.

I’ve successfully waited for EPCOT walk-ins on three different trips. Waited 20 minutes for Le Cellier lunch. Waited 30 minutes for Morocco pavilion. Waited 15 minutes for Japan pavilion. All three were good meals at decent wait times. Magic Kingdom walk-ups, I’ve tried five times. Once it worked (25-minute wait for Plaza Restaurant). Four times I waited 45+ minutes and decided to mobile order quick service instead.

Understanding the No-Show Policy

Disney charges $10 per person if you don’t show up for a reservation. You must cancel within 24 hours of your reservation time to avoid the fee. If you book an 8 PM dinner, the cancellation window closes at 8 PM that same day. You can still cancel at 7:59 PM and avoid the fee. After 8 PM, the $10 fee applies to your account.

This policy exists because restaurants lose revenue on unused tables. It also means that cancellation windows at midnight are your legitimate second chance to find alternatives.

If plans change and you need to cancel, do it through the My Disney Experience app immediately. It takes 10 seconds. The $10 fee per person exists and it adds up fast on a family of four, five, or six.

Advanced Reservation Tactics

Tactic 1: Have your party profile perfect before day 60. Full names of all family members correct, special occasions marked (anniversaries, birthdays), dietary restrictions noted. The reservation system uses party profiles, and mistakes in profiles can mean rebooking.

Tactic 2: Book at exactly 6 AM, not 5:59 AM or 6:01 AM. Refreshing early stalls your browser. Refreshing late means you’re competing with fewer people but the best slots are gone. Be at your refresh button at 5:59, refresh at 6:00 exactly, and act immediately.

Tactic 3: Have your phone and computer both ready. Book on one, navigate to the app on the other to look for backup options simultaneously. If one device is slow, the other keeps moving.

Tactic 4: Book for times that sound less appealing. 7:45 PM dinner is available when 7 PM is gone. 9:30 AM breakfast is available when 9 AM is gone. Odd times book slower because families want round hours.

Tactic 5: Use the phone number if the app is crashing and you have more than 15 minutes before the system stabilizes. Calling (407) 939-3463 works when the app is at 50 percent capacity. You’ll get through on the second or third call.

FAQ

Do I need a Disney resort reservation to make dining reservations?

No. Day guests can make dining reservations 60 days in advance. Your window opens at 6 AM ET for each date you’re visiting. A day guest visiting July 15 to July 19 books July 15 dining on May 16, July 16 dining on May 17, and so on. Resort guests have the advantage of booking an entire week at once, but day guests can absolutely reserve restaurants.

What happens if I’m late logging in at 6 AM?

Most popular restaurants sell out in 30 to 60 minutes. If you log in at 6:05 AM, Be Our Guest dinner is likely gone. Backup restaurants and unpopular times are still available. Log in at 6:05 and have a plan B ready. Many people succeed booking high-quality restaurants at 6:30 AM or later if they’re flexible on timing.

Can I modify a reservation after I book it?

You can cancel and rebook, but you can’t modify. If you book Be Our Guest for 7 PM and want to move it to 8 PM, you have to cancel the 7 PM, hope 8 PM is available, and rebook. If 8 PM isn’t available, you’ve lost the reservation. I only cancel-and-rebook if the change is urgent, because the risk is losing the restaurant entirely.

Should I call and ask for a better time after I’ve booked?

No. Calling after you’ve booked doesn’t change your time. Cast members will tell you to use the app to modify or cancel and rebook. The system doesn’t give them the ability to move reservation times outside the app.

What’s the best way to handle dining if I’m visiting during a very crowded time?

Book character meals and quick service instead of table service. Character meals book at the same 6 AM window but demand is slightly lower because the experience is different and pricing is higher. Quick service booking is not competitive, it’s available anytime. Build your dining plan around character breakfast and good quick service (Docking Bay 7, Satu’li Canteen, Columbia Harbour House). You’ll still eat well and your logistics will be simpler.
